Masseria Il Frantoio

The intact soul of the Alto Salento lives in Il Frantoio, a masseria and organic farm located 5 km from the center of Ostuni, immersed in 72 hectares of centuries-old olive grove out of time where culture and tradition are intertwined and merged with research and modernity.

The 16th century estate has charming rooms that have been renovated and furnished with period-style furniture, preserving the charm of the past.

Between different aromas and flavors, Masseria Il Frantoio offers Apulian cuisine in a very light dance between land and sea. The ancient dishes that women prepared for their husbands on their return from hard days of work in the fields, have been updated according to the creative taste of the cooks of the Il Frantoio restaurant, but they guarantee that bond with tradition that amazes and satisfies.

The dishes, which are different every day, are prepared with organic products from the farm: the fruit for jams is obtained from the seventeenth-century citrus grove; with durum wheat, in addition to the famous Apulian bread, many pasta shapes are prepared by hand; along the country paths, among the centuries-old olive trees and dry stone walls grow asparagus, lampascioni, pumpkins, holly shoots, artichokes, legumes and 'chicory'; aromatic herbs from the vegetable garden behind the dining room.

Alongside the services and warm hospitality that make it a true charming hotel, Masseria Il Frantoio is successfully dedicated to extensive organic cultivation and the production of DOP extra virgin olive oils, rosoli and extra high quality jams, so much to deserve in the 2008 the “Oscar Green” award assigned by Coldiretti and in 2013 the Quality of Puglia brand.
