Milonia

Small organic farm of about 14 hectares, Milonia was born from a strong passion for nature and tells a story made up of men, traditions and places. The name itself hides the link with the town where the company is located, Montemilone, a small village in Basilicata almost on the border with the land of Puglia. The name evokes the mythological origins of the town which, according to some sources, was founded by a Greek leader Milone of Crotone.

Antonio Caputo, agronomist and founder of the farm, driven by his love for the Lucanian countryside and a strong sense of belonging to his land, has developed the idea of creating products whose traceability is complete and transparent. Starting from the selection of ancient grains, rediscovered after careful research originating from the stories of grandfather Luigi and the elderly local farmers, he has chosen to follow the canons of organic farming precisely to obtain genuine and safe products, respecting the environment and and its balances.

Today Milonia cultivates, with a transparent and controlled supply chain, ancient grains such as Saragolla Lucana, Maiorca, Frassineto, Montemilone and Forenza, varieties with high nutritional properties for greater digestibility due to the low gluten content and high quantity of minerals, polyphenols and fibers. and produces pasta, flour, cereals and legumes that preserve the aromas and flavors of Lucania.
